"How I Met My Friend Bentley"
I grew up happy in my family. Content. It was nice, we were all a bit odd. But it was boring. Nobody ever did anything, not fun anyways. Things were fine, I loved them, still do. But the best day of my life was the day I met this large dog named Bentley.
It was a nice day, and the family was doing their normal nothingness. I was bored, nothing new there either. Which is a particularly boring kind of bored as it is just as predictable as the boring activity that caused it. That boring time, as always, I had so many ideas flying through my head. Something had to occupy my time, and thinking while staring at the sky seemed to be the normal activity in the family. But even those thoughts were repetitive and boring. See the pattern? Boring. But I'm getting to the fun part.
So, I decided to wander off. Just for a bit. Everyone was occupied with their uninteresting tasks, so I headed away from our little home. We were forest dogs, we didn't live around people, and it wasn't that often that we met up with other canines either. It was quite sunny as I left the clearing we tended to play in. But I left the sun behind for the shade and mystery of the brush beyond. I wanted to see just what was out there, and what better than starting on a nice early morning? The dangerous creatures were all out at night, that's what I was told. Me, being a small and fairly fluffy little girl, my parents thought it wasn't a good idea. But I was also sneaky, and succeeded. I walked slowly, quietly, until i was sure I was away from the family enough to relax. There was nothing scary out here anyways. I'd be back by morning, I promised myself, and I decided I could handle a little more boredom for a while to make up for it.
It was calm for a while, I was able to happily watch the birds and squirrels as I made my way down a well warn path. The shade of the big old trees that made up our forest kept the day from getting too hot, and it was a quite enjoyable time. But what really caught my interest was the sound of water. The river! It had been the long way around, but I had visited there before of course. Just never this section or alone. It was a day of daring and non boredom, so there I went. Down the slope to the bank of the river. Maybe I'd catch a fish. I came to the water, looking in to it to look at my reflection. I have to say, I still think I'm very good looking. But it distracted me from every other sense to really get a good look at myself. And complimenting myself too...
I was unaware, until a fairly large shadow came over me. I saw the blur of a brown shape standing behind me in the water, it wasn't as clear as my own reflection. Slowly, I lifted my gaze from the water and behind me, to see the largest dog I had in my life. A huge shepherd dog, with shiny orange horns on the top of his head, perked ears, teeth sticking out the sides of his closed mouth, and what were at the time some scarily piercing green eyes. I squeaked, backing away from him without the thought of the water. I hate to admit, but I was frightened beyond anything I had felt before to be facing such a large creature on my own. To make matters worse, my hooved back foot slipped, and I fell into the water. That icy cold chilling water. It was not a deep area, nor was it moving very fast, but I wasn't a swimmer. I never have been and never will be. And I panicked, squirming in the water trying to keep my head above water. I was doomed, I knew it. In the water or out, I had no hope to come out of this.
But then, something grasped the back of my neck, and I was lifted effortlessly out of the water and onto the grassy land I had previously been sitting on. I kept my eyes closed, didn't dare look. Maybe this dog ate other dogs... Every horrible thing that could happen ran through my mind. I crouched stiffly on the ground, shivering as my neck was let go. Nothing happened, but I refused to open my eyes. It didn't feel right...
"Hey... are you alright?" The voice of what I assumed was the same creature I saw before sounded so quiet and soft. it didn't fit in my mind at all. Slowly I allowed my eyes to open, looking up to be sure it was the same individual. And it was! What was this guy? Something about the sound of his voice took the threat out of him. "I am Bentley. I'm sorry I scared you." He sounded shy, even scared. It was weird. He was the big one here!
"Well, I'm Willow. And i was enjoying my day until you got me all wet!" I stood up, staring at him with my best angry look. I was still a pup. I really wasn't too threatening. But he backed away. "What are you even doing here anyways? This is our land." I added, then saw his ears fall back and his head lower. I couldn't keep going at that.
Bentley looked at me. I could see the right side of his face was scarred up, and his tail was tucked between his legs some. He was actually scared of me. Me, the little pup! In a way it made me happy, proud even. But it wasn't right, I knew it. There was no reason to make him that scared... He did pull me out of the water. "I'm just a traveler. That's all. I'm moving through..." He finally answered my question after some few moments. "I promise I'm not staying." What bit I was upset with him before left. He was a traveler? Travelers had adventures... many adventures. It wouldn't be dull to travel.
"You travel all the time?" I couldn't help my excitement. "Do you see anything interesting? Is there danger?" I stood up straighter, my tail wagging. I couldn't help it. Bentley watched, then shook his head and started away from me. He didn't want to talk, I could tell. But I didn't care."Please. Can I come with you?" I blurted out the question I was really thinking of, despite the fact that he was a stranger that I had just met. This life was boring, maybe he would let me.
"No." My tail fell and I looked down as he gave his answer and kept walking. I frowned, but I didn't give up. I followed him, and for quite a while. Sneaky I thought, I followed him through the forest. I thought he didn't notice, but when we got to the edge of the trees, the large shepherd turned around. "Look, I don't need a pup following me. I am better off on my own." He said.
"But I'm not just a pup. I'm tough and smart, and I'm bored here. Nothing ever happens." I insisted. He seemed to think, then nodded.
"I suppose." Bentley said with a bit of a sigh. I squealed, running around him hopping. I was so excited. For that moment, i didn't think of anything but the potential adventures ahead. I finally was getting the chance to live out a more interesting life.
From there, we had a lot of small adventures. We got close, Bentley pretty much finished raising me. I had my nights of regret, missing my family, but I knew that this was what I was meant to be doing. I couldn't live their life. Bentley taught me ways to live, ways to protect myself, different ways of sneaking around. He also taught me to be gentle, kind, respectful. Things you wouldn't expect for such a large animal. We enjoyed our time, becoming very close and pleasant friends. We helped each other, protected each other. We wouldn't leave each other for anything, and we still won't to this day.

- Willow, I like the name and she would keep it.
- Fluff, but only Bentley calls her that. Simply because she has fluffier fur
than he does. He has also called her Willie. She doesn't like these
nicknames, or really any nicknames at all.
- Female ♀
- Canine, dog. She will identify herself as a dog. Willow is a proud mixed
dog who is not afraid to show off her unusual features.
- 1 1/2 Years
b i r t h d a t e ;;
- September fifteenth.
- One word she would feel good describing herself as is strong.
- A medium dog on the larger side of the scale, she is of a
healthy weight. Well fed and cared for.
- Her coat is of a medium length, and quite thick and 'fluffy' (not that she likes to be called even a bit fluffy).
- There are the obvious, the hooved back feet and the little horns resting on the top of her head. As well as the little wings floating above her back. Her bright blue eyes, and adorable floppy ears are also some enjoyable features.
- Willow lives along side of Bentley. They do quite a bit of wandering, and so she would not identify a home where she spends most of her time. They do tend to return to the same little forest area more often than other places. But they make a home out of anywhere they find. Willow and Bentley are quite adventurous individuals.
- She always sounds a bit confident, though with just the slightest bit of a stutter to notice once a bit nervous.
- Willow makes a good point when speaking to others to stand tall and confident. With her big eyes, floppy ears, and wagging tail she finds it quite easy to convince others just how amazing she is. She's good at keeping her composure in tough situations, and it's hard to catch her looking scared or cowering.

- Adventure | Something to do, something to keep her mind active and occupied. She loves the idea of seeing new things and new places.
- Activity | Willow is an active and energetic dog. It's no surprise she loves running around and having fun.
- Smiles | It's that nice feeling of a contagious smile. A friendly face can lighten any day.
- Pups | Some day she wishes to have one pup of her own. She loves to play with pups, she hardly feels like she is past that stage herself.
- Strength | Her strength is one of her favorite features of herself, and she likes to see it in other individuals.
- Sunny Days | Well, they make the best for exploring, and laying out in the warm sun is one of those few relaxed activities she enjoys.
- Sweet Treats | She really loves any of those human treats that she and Bentley manage to sneak away with. So yummy.
- Silence | It provides an awkward and quite creepy atmosphere. She will try and fill the silence however she can.
- Doing nothing | Simply put, she's always gotta be doing something. It's a simple fact of her life.Always on the
move. - Being Bored | Similar to above. As well, Willow struggles with living a 'day to day' life. It is quite boring.
- Crying | This little girl absolutely hates to cry. Hates to be seen crying, hates to know someone has seen her at that point. It is a horrible feeling that she wishes she could never go through.
- Being scared. | One more of those things she hates people to see from her. She always tries to be strong, prides herself in her calm and adventurous spirit. To be scared doesn't quite fit that character that she plays.
- Storms | Yeah, one of those things she just can't handle. Loud and wet storms are the worst.
- Willow is a strong girl with attitude, and a good sense of adventure. There's hardly a thing that will hold her back. Dangerous? Why not! Difficult? We'll get through! She's the optimistic type who sees every struggle as a challenge and every mistake a lesson. Willow believes in a good attitude and a pleasant smile to get through the day. So far it has kept her quite safe.
Her strength comes from her growing up with Bentley. The large dog taught her to believe in herself, trust her instincts, and walk with her head high. And she has done that every day of her life since. She faces danger with a bold and strong stance, and she sure stands her ground. Some call her it stubbornness. Some call it stupidity. Some call it bravery. She likes to think it is strength and good character. It is true stubbornness as she refuses to back down from everyone. Even those larger than her. She has some moments of judgement struggles, as there are times when she should back off and refuses. Willow is one who will argue her point until nobody else is listening.
Willow enjoys the outdoors, enjoys anything that gets her to new places. It's that sense and feeling of the unknown that draws Willow to follow Bentley nearly to the ends of the world. She wants to see it all, wants to see everything she can. She is determined to fill her life with interesting things. Things not everyone gets to do. She's curious, always sticking her nose into others' business. And she will give that cute and innocent little smile and a wag of a tail, and she gets to hear quite a bit for that cuteness. Who could resist her puppy face? She knows it, and she uses it quite well. To get out of trouble, to get what she wants, and even to change Bentley's mind when needed.
She's tough, she's confident, and if it weren't for her smaller size she wouldn't need the help from Bentley to protect her. Willow is not afraid to talk back or speak out. It's really difficult to silence her. She sure has a lot to say, and she will say it. But she does have her caring streak, you just have to be close to really see it. She likes to give advice and likes to feel important to people.

- Bentley; He's a very large and unusual canine. With curled orange horns and an odd tail, he's also a good bit larger than Willow. Being that Bentley practically raised her, they are very close. Almost like siblings, their favorite pass time with each other is poking fun at each other. Bentley would protect Willow without a question, and if it came to it, Willow would do the same.
